About the Course

Aircraft mechanics work predominantly in the aviation and aerospace industries. Employers may be manufacturers of aircrafts or helicopters, as well as repair and maintenance workshops at airlines and airports. Furthermore, they can be deployed at air force bases in the Federal Army.


Aircraft mechanics manufacture engines and aircrafts of all kinds. They also take on maintenance and servicing. The variety of tasks depend on the specific field of studies: production technology, maintenance technology and engine technology.

You begin your training with elementary training in general metal processing. During the specialist training in the training center, the skills and knowledge are deepened and expanded in the form of courses or in a team on projects that include aircraft-specific processing techniques. The assembly of aircraft parts into complete assemblies or systems with the necessary connection technology follows. This also includes plastics machining and processing as well as the basics of hydraulics, control technology, electropneumatics and PLC. During training in the operating departments, you will learn how to manufacture, assemble and control aircraft parts and aircraft system components through practical work.

Duration of training:


The training lasts three and a half years and takes place both at the vocational school and in the company.

Part 1 of the final exam is taken in the second year of training. At the end of the training,

part 2 of the final exam is taken, which consists of a written and a practical exam.
